Kräuter Mix donates 400 packets
“Otto’s exotic fruit tea” has a very special purpose: to help children with cancer. Kräuter Mix has produced around 400 packets of the flavored blend of hibiscus, apple, rosehip, pineapple, currants, mango, papaya, and orange and has donated them to Thorsten Ellmauer. The 50-year-old, who goes by Otto, has been volunteering for the past ten years, collecting donations for the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Leukemia and Cancer in Würzburg, Germany. Ellmauer regularly organizes sales campaigns, auctions, and raffles with non-cash prizes to raise money for the cancer charity.
To mark Ellmauer’s decade-long dedication, Kräuter Mix is supporting his charity work with its own fruit tea, which Gertraud Mix was delighted to present to him on behalf of the Mix family. Ellmauer will sell the 100-gram packets at a price of four euros, and the proceeds will be donated in full to the local children’s cancer charity. If he manages to sell all the tea, Ellmauer will raise a total of 1,600 euros for this excellent cause.
The Parents’ Initiative, a non-profit organization, will use the donations to help make the three cancer wards at the University Children’s Hospital in Würzburg family friendly as well as making everyday life in the hospital easier by financing additional doctors’ and nurses’ positions. The charity also wants to provide twelve apartments, free of charge, for parents near the hospital and to offer families mental health support during and after treatment.
