Cycle to Work campaign: Kräuter Mix once again turns kilometers cycled into charitable donations
It has become an annual tradition for Kräuter Mix, as for many other companies, to participate in the nationwide ‘Cycle to Work’ campaign organized by the German health insurance company AOK. In 2025, more than 50 employees took part, recording the kilometers they cycled to work. Over the course of the campaign, which ran from May to August, their efforts clocked up exactly 27,519 km.
Generous end-of-year giving for Mix for Kids
Another cherished tradition at the company, which specializes in air-dried herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables, is to convert the kilometers cycled by employees into a monetary donation. At 15 cents per kilometer, this year’s efforts resulted in a total of €4,128, a welcome end-of-year gift for Mix for Kids’ charitable projects. For the children supported by the Abtswind-based non-profit in cooperation with project partners in Albania, India, South Africa as well as Germany, every euro donated opens pathways to a better future.

Taking action for charity, health and sustainability
The eager cyclists at Kräuter Mix are committed to more than a good cause, though. By getting outdoors and exercising on a regular basis, they are also centering their own health and supporting the company’s strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable practices.
Kräuter Mix’s top cyclists in this year’s campaign received additional recognition for their achievements in the form of a small gift, a certificate and a meal voucher. Roland Gromann took first place with 3,128 km, followed by Carsten Schüssler with 2,047 km and Robert Uhl with 1,836 km.
To kick off the campaign, all participants received cycling jackets to ensure they were well protected on the road. “Every year, we are delighted by the number of employees who participate, and this year, we actually exceeded last year’s total distance cycled,” commented Silke Wurlitzer, Managing Director at Kräuter Mix. “This means our donation to support underserved children has also increased.”
Together with employee representative Sabine Lex and HR specialist Hannah Kundmüller, she presented the prizes to the top finishers and a cheque to Mix for Kids, which was accepted by board member Tanja Keim.
