Promoting health and protecting the environment
Cycling to work is not only great for your health, but also for the environment too. This year saw 65 Kräuter Mix employees determined to set a good example by taking part in the cycle to work campaign. This campaign is held every year across the country by the German Cyclists’ Association and the health insurance company AOK.
Between May 1 and August 31 this year, a total of 44 Kräuter Mix employees cycled to work at least 20 times, easily meeting the campaign’s target. In fact, most clocked up 75 rides over the four months, meaning they cycled to and from work almost every day. “The number of bikes parked outside our company premises shows just how active our employees are,” said Managing Director Silke Wurlitzer, who has been delighted by this year’s response. Kräuter Mix has been taking part in the cycle to work campaign since 2005, and the company’s dedication has not gone unnoticed by the AOK: “It’s inspiring to see how the management really gets behind our campaign,” said Frank Lanig from the AOK Würzburg Directorate, who awarded backpacks with cycling accessories for the prize draw to the successful employees.
But Kräuter Mix gives its staff yet another reason to leave the car at home: since 2017, every employee has had the opportunity to lease a bicycle through the company. Over a period of three years, tax incentives and monthly installments can save up to 35 percent of the purchase price. Around 100 employees are currently taking advantage of this option, most of them to purchase an e-bike. At the end of the leasing period, they then have the option to buy the bike permanently for a fee.
