Reconstruction as fast as possible
The fire in one of our halls at the Abtswind company site on 8th July 2024 caused varying degrees of damage to the production lines installed there for processing herbs and spices. Fortunately, no employees were injured. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Two high-performance germ reduction systems, which are operated using a continuous process and are located at the edge of the building, will be repaired and put back into operation in the foreseeable future. We will plan and implement the reconstruction of the entire production hall and facilities as quickly as possible.
All production lines that were not affected by the fire are now running again in three-shift operation. We have multiple copies of the most important types with the various production processes. This means that production orders can largely be rescheduled to the other systems.
Cross-contamination from smoke and dust can be ruled out for these production facilities and for all storage areas, which only make up around 9% of our total storage area in Abtswind. This is due to the spatial separation and the external conditions such as the wind direction on the day of the fire. The proof was provided by the inspections carried out by independent experts. The quality and safety of the goods stored and produced there are not impaired by the fire.
As we have extensive stocks of raw materials and products that have already been produced, our ability to supply our customers is assured. The fire only destroyed a manageable amount of goods that were available for short-term provision and collection at the production lines. In order to maintain our ability to deliver, we have also introduced a shift model with round-the-clock production on six or seven days of the week at some of the facilities.
