Trainee induction at Kräuter Mix
Kräuter Mix has never had so many new starters! A total of 13 apprentices and trainees embarked on this new phase of their careers in September – a record-breaking number for the company and testament to its intensive recruitment of young talent to counter the shortage of skilled workers. The range of apprenticeships and traineeships at Kräuter Mix is the result of careful HR planning for the future, and the family business strives to offer all their new recruits a permanent contract on successful completion of their training. At present, the company currently employs 34 trainees and apprentices across the program.
Over a period of usually three years, these young people will acquire professional commercial, industrial or technical skills at a steadily growing, healthy company and in a crisis-proof, continuously developing industry. The company’s apprenticeship and trainee program, which includes joint workshops, lectures, team-building activities and excursions as well as support and guidance from specialized trainers, once again got off to a good start this year with two induction days. The focus of the induction fell on building an initial understanding of the company and getting to know the team.
Over the course of the induction, the young talent learned many interesting facts about the company, which produces air-dried herbs, vegetables and spices for the food, pharmaceutical and pet food industries with a team of 500 employees. Introductory sessions covered matters ranging from food hygiene and occupational safety to fire safety and IT. During tours of the production halls, warehouses and offices, the new team members familiarized themselves with the company’s two sites in Abtswind and Wiesentheid and established first ties with their future colleagues and trainers.
After a joint lunch, the young professionals got stuck straight into practical group work, getting to know the Kräuter Mix products they will be dealing with in future. The newcomers were tasked with creating their very own spice blend, which was later tasted and judged by an expert panel chaired by managing partner Christoph Mix.
