Kräuter Mix’s environmental goals for 2022/2023
Kräuter Mix has held the ‘Eco-Management and Audit Scheme’ (EMAS) certificate since 2015. It is the most rigorous system in the world for ensuring sustainable and exemplary environmental management. Developed by the European Union, the award enables the international, family-owned company to document its efforts to go above and beyond the levels of environmental protection required by law, to systematically improve its environmental performance and to provide information on this annually in an environmental statement.
Companies that hold the EMAS certificate, which also includes ISO 14001, must undergo a main audit every three years, for which they must submit a comprehensive environmental statement with sustainability goals. In the years where there is no main audit, an interim audit is carried out, which involves submitting an updated environmental statement. In 2022, Kräuter Mix once again successfully passed the interim audit, which was conducted by an independent environmental auditor.
Kräuter Mix has set itself the following goals for 2022/2023:
HR
- Integrate sustainability and environmental protection into training
- Encourage healthy and environmentally friendly ways to get to work
Sustainability management
- Expand the contract farming of herbs
- Systematically evaluate social and environmental goals in problematic supply chains
Technology
- Optimize energy usage in an additional germ reduction plant
- Create an alternative energy policy for the Abtswind company site
- Optimize outdoor lighting in Abtswind
- Renovate the administration building in Abtswind in an eco-friendly manner
- Convert washrooms
