Successful audit marks EMAS milestone
Back in 2014, Kräuter Mix underwent EMAS auditing for the first time, going on to receive the environmental management certificate, which was developed by the European Union, in 2015. Since then, the company has continued to evidence its dedication to environmental protection, a stance verified annually by an independent auditor and documented in a public environmental report.
The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, or EMAS for short, certifies that Kräuter Mix goes above and beyond the environmental protection required by law and systematically improves its environmental performance in order to meet high environmental standards. An in-house EMAS team made up of employees from across the company bears responsibility for implementation.
Companies that hold the EMAS certificate, which also includes the ISO 14001 standard, must undergo a main audit every three years, for which they must submit a comprehensive environmental statement with sustainability goals. In the years where there is no main audit, an interim audit is carried out, which involves submitting an updated environmental statement. In 2024, Kräuter Mix once again successfully passed the main audit, renewing its EMAS certification.

- Record greenhouse gas emissions
Technical procurement
- Switch company vehicles over to electromobility
Technology
- Expand the e-charging infrastructure at the company sites in Abtswind and Wiesentheid
- Replace the oil heating system with a heat pump
- Convert the interior lighting of a warehouse to LED
- Create an alternative energy policy for the Abtswind company site with the aim of drastically cutting emissions through the use of renewable energy sources
