Almost half of all employees receive first dose in one day
A Kräuter Mix company vaccination program saw 200 employees receive their first Covid-19 shot. Company doctor Dr. Tobias Weigand was joined by Dr. Michaela Maria Arnold from the Gerolzhofen Medical Center to administer the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine, with the pair giving one shot every three minutes from early morning until late afternoon.
For the purpose of the program, the company converted its cafeteria and a meeting room in the administration building into a vaccination center. Almost half the employees at the company’s two sites in Abtswind and Wiesentheid were given the vaccine.
“Once it looked likely that company doctors would also play a part in the national vaccination program, we started planning how we could help give our employees protection against the virus,” explained Michael Herrmann, who was responsible for coordinating the program at Kräuter Mix on behalf of the HR department. “We are delighted to see such high demand and glad that we were able to offer the vaccination to anyone interested in receiving it from us. We surveyed the workforce for demand at the end of May, but we weren’t certain we’d receive enough doses of the vaccine until just a week before the vaccination date.”
Kräuter Mix set up tables, benches and gazebos in the depot next to the administration building in Abtswind for those just vaccinated to wait for the required 20 minutes. While they waited, trainees offered them drinks and baked goods, while employees from the logistics department cooked up hotdogs.
The second large-scale vaccination program is set to take place at Kräuter Mix in mid-July when employees will receive their second dose, leaving them fully vaccinated. “As many of our employees have already received their vaccinations at their family doctor or a vaccination center, the majority of our workforce will be fully vaccinated by the time the summer vacation starts,” added Michael Herrmann.
